He is a leader in his church, where the pastor doesn’t know that when he books space for evening choir rehearsal, he’s hosting a queer karaoke party / open mic. Joel’s friend circle includes a variety of queers, several of whom also work with him. The show focuses on the small, intimate moments in Joel’s relationship with his best friend Sam and the rest of their chosen family.
