Flaming Idols are altar candles featuring inspiring figures of the LGBTQ community, created and handmade by Philadelphia artist and activist Robin Markle.
 
RuPaul was one of the first LGBTQ people to have their own tv show, not to mention being an early representative of POC queerness in mainstream media. Throughout the repressive Clinton and Bush eras, RuPaul was a symbol of unapologetic gaiety in our living rooms. Now he’s mentoring a new generation of drag queens on RuPaul’s Drag Race – though as he famously said, “Either you’re naked or it’s drag.” Let’s hope the second half of her career is as colorful as the first!
