Flaming Idols are altar candles featuring inspiring figures of the LGBTQ community, created and handmade by Philadelphia artist and activist Robin Markle.
Annie Lennox is a Scottish singer-songwriter and activist, known for her solo music as well as being ½ of the band Eurythmics. In 1983 the BBC described her as, “the singer whose powerful androgynous look defies the male gaze". Annie has used her platform to raise money and awareness for human rights, namely for women and people living with HIV/AIDS. Long beloved as an LGBT icon, she says, “I think ultimately we all need to be liberated from these labels that say whether we’re gay or we’re straight.”
You might light this candle and look to Annie for inspiration and guidance in: speaking up for marginalized people, pursuing a career
