Flaming Idols are altar candles featuring inspiring figures of the LGBTQ community, created and handmade by Philadelphia artist and activist Robin Markle. 
 
Robyn is a Swedish singer-songwriter best known for dance anthems exploring themes of heartbreak. As a teen pop star she rejected the boxes imposed on her by the music industry. Her second album was not released in the US because she refused to remove lyrics referencing abortion. Of her queer fan base, she said, “I think questioning yourself or questioning the context you’re in comes natural to this community, and that’s something that I feel connected to… Maybe that’s why there seems to be this strong bond between me and [LGBTQ] fans.”

Candle is hand-poured with soy wax and burns for approximately 10 hrs. Glass votives are 2.5in high and 2in wide at the base.
