Flaming Idols are altar candles featuring inspiring figures of the LGBTQ community, created and handmade by Philadelphia artist and activist Robin Markle.
Reneé Rapp is a lesbian actress and singer, best known for her role in the Mean Girls musical. She began acting and singing as a teenager and was a lead on a TV show at 20. In 2024 she publicly came out as lesbian on Saturday Night Live. When asked about advice for queer youth, she said, “Find your community. Whether that community is online and thousands of miles away from you or two towns over or in someone who really lifts you up beyond a way you could do for yourself. Your community will do the best it can to keep you safe.”
You might light this candle and look to Reneé for inspiration and guidance in: being open to changing identities, eating disorder recovery, embracing queer separatism
Candle is hand-poured with soy wax and burns for approximately 10 hrs. Glass votives are 2.5in high and 2in wide at the base.
